We are PEAX, an AI startup in the Food & Flower industry. Our customers are innovative breeders, growers and food & flower distributors. You can find a number of our customers with accompanying cases on our website.

We are looking for a data scientist help us bringing the future to the Agrifood industry! So, are you ready to live up to this challenge and make a direct impact on the future of food? Read on!

What will you do?

At PEAX we help businesses in the AgriFood industry to integrate data & AI solutions into their organization.

As a data scientist you will take the lead on data-centric projects on various topics related to vertical farming, business optimization and autonomous growing. You will be actively involved in the entire project journey, from scoping to development to delivery.

Most of your time you will be working in your favorite IDE, but every now and then you will leave your notebooks for what they are to prepare for the next demo meeting or project kick-off.

Who are you?

You have a curious mind that likes to dive into analytical challenges. You are not afraid of taking responsibility and feel comfortable in explaining your work to the layman in the room.

Besides cracking tough challenges, you like to enjoy the time with your colleagues and exchange knowledge and experience that you have gained along the way.

But on top of all that, you are looking for a job where you can deliver some real impact. Together with the team you will be working on the frontier of our future food system.

Your profile

• You have a MS in Computer Science, Econometrics, AI, BioInformatics, Maths, or Statistics
• You are a good communicator and live up to the “niet lullen maar poetsen” mentality
• You are fluent in English and (preferably) Dutch
• You are flexible (mentally and/or physically) and stress-resistant

What are your skills?

• You understand business economics
• You are an excellent programmer in Python
• You are comfortable working in a Unix-environment
• You have a passion for working with data and technology
• You have proven knowledge of data scientific principles

Nice to haves

• Knowledge of other languages (speaking or programming)
• Experience with working in the AgriFood industry
• Experience with lean/agile software development
• Experience with data-science software and packages (Scikit-Learn, Spark, PyTorch ...)
• Experience with Google Cloud, Azure or AWS is a definitive plus
